About Us

Suraksha Setu is a state-wide public outreach programme of the State’s Home department aimed at taking the role of Police beyond solving crimes by bridging the gap with the society and by creating a feeling of trust among residents with their proactive and prompt actions. The project intends to give a human face to the police force and minimize incidents of crime in the society. Suraksha Setu Societies have been formed at State, Commissionerate and District Levels. The Societies are autonomous bodies registered under the Gujarat Societies Act. The Society has a Governing Council for general administration and Executive Committee for day activities.

In recent years, incidents of crime have been on the rise, and the gap between the police and the public has widened. The police have been seen as an institution that is reactive and often late to respond. This has resulted in a lack of trust and confidence among the public in the police force. Suraksha Setu was launched to bridge this gap and restore the trust between the police and the public.

The project was launched with the aim of taking the role of the police beyond solving crimes. The focus was on creating a feeling of trust among the residents through proactive and prompt actions. The project intends to give a human face to the police force and minimize incidents of crime in the society. This was achieved by forming Suraksha Setu Societies at the State, Commissionerate, and District levels.

The Suraksha Setu Societies are autonomous bodies registered under the Gujarat Societies Act. They have a Governing Council for general administration and an Executive Committee for day-to-day activities. The Societies are made up of members of the police force and members of the public. This ensures that there is a collaborative approach towards crime prevention and community safety.

The Suraksha Setu Societies are focused on engaging in proactive measures to prevent crimes. The societies work towards creating awareness about safety measures, ensuring the safety of women and children, protecting against cybercrime, and managing disasters. The societies also strive to create a sense of responsibility and ownership among the public towards their own safety and security. This is done by encouraging the community to report any suspicious activities and working together with the police to prevent crimes.

The Suraksha Setu Societies have been successful in creating a feeling of trust and confidence among the public towards the police force. The societies have been able to take the police beyond their traditional role of solving crimes and have given them a more proactive role in ensuring the safety and security of the community. The societies have also been successful in minimizing incidents of crime in the society.

The success of Suraksha Setu lies in the collaborative approach between the police and the public. The societies have been able to create a sense of ownership and responsibility among the public towards their own safety and security. This has resulted in a safer and more secure society for everyone.

In conclusion, Suraksha Setu is a state-wide public outreach programme of the State’s Home department aimed at taking the role of Police beyond solving crimes by bridging the gap with the society and by creating a feeling of trust among residents with their proactive and prompt actions. The project has been successful in giving a human face to the police force and minimizing incidents of crime in the society. The Suraksha Setu Societies have been able to create a collaborative approach towards crime prevention and community safety, resulting in a safer and more secure society for everyone.
